DVASH 02 JULY 2021

2nd July 2021realsmart admin

D’vash class have had another busy and exciting week! All of the children are working so hard and it has been lovely to reflect on the amazing progress they have made this term, as I prepare the end of year reports. I have been so impressed this week by the children’s caring actions towards each other, they have such a strong bond as a class.

This week we have been reviewing all of our favourite stories as a class, with the children having opportunities to read or retell their favourite story to the class.

In Maths we have been working on our addition skills and using all the number knowledge we have to solve addition problems.

We also had a brilliant Graduation event with parents on Friday morning, it was such a special time to celebrate together and lovely for the children to share their classroom and school with parents.

Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all at our new school site in September!

DVASH 18 JUNE 2021

18th June 2021realsmart admin

D’vash class have had a brilliant week! We have been enjoying the sunny weather and talking a lot together about how to keep ourselves safe in the sun; wearing sunscreen, drinking water and keeping our hats on.
We have started our new topic ‘Transport’ and we have learnt the ‘We all go travelling by’ song. We had fun making all of the different transport sounds and each chose a transport picture to write about. In art we created our own cars, by painting toilet paper rolls and sticking them together.
D’vash class also had a very exciting trip in the Gesher school van to visit our new school. The children were all so happy to go out on a trip together and it was amazing to see how much they loved our new playgrounds and visiting all the new rooms. We are all looking forward to September!

DVASH 28 MAY 2021

28th May 2021realsmart admin

D’vash class have been keeping busy with lots of lessons and activities this week!
In Maths we have been reviewing shapes and learning all about the properties of shapes. We worked on counting the sides and corners of shapes and how to sort them into different groups.
In Literacy we learnt about farm animal babies and everyone really enjoyed singing the Farmyard Jamboree song to name all of the mother and baby animals. Then we all made our own chart to match mother and baby animals and wrote labels or a sentence about them.
I have been so impressed this week by the children’s improving play skills with their friends, everyone is doing a brilliant job at being kind and sharing together with all of the toys we have in D’vash class and in the playground.
Have a wonderful half-term!

Now we are working on measuring length, using cubes and rulers. We have also been talking all about comparing things by their size, length, height and weight.
Everyone has been really enjoying our Kodesh lessons and whole class therapy sessions. We had great fun at our Shavuot Enrichment Day this week, especially all of the messy play activities and making our own cheesecakes. D’vash have had a great couple of weeks, with lots of fun activities going on.
We have been working hard in lessons, with all the children trying their best to join in with their friends and take turns when speaking.
We have also been practicing congratulating each other when we get a Middah slip. Last week we all tried our best to be independent for our Middah.
In Maths we have been learning all about money! Everyone is brilliant at recognising the coins and we have also used coins to solve addition and subtraction sums.
In Literacy we have been reading Mrs Wishy-Washy’s Farm, which has become a favourite class story. The children have been using a story map to re-tell the story for their friends and we had a go at re-writing the Story to make our own D’vash Wishy-Washy story.

16th April 2021realsmart admin

D’vash Class have settled back into school so well and are all very  happy to be back together again.
This term we are focusing on a farm theme. In art we created our own animal faces and worked together to mix paint colours to make pink and light yellow, for pigs and chicks respectively. We
have been singing lots of farm songs, with “The Farmyard Jamboree” being the current class favourite – it has also helped us to practice our counting skills and learn more about the life cycle. With the weather warming up, we have had lots of opportunities to have our lessons outside and explore the forest. The whole class has also enjoyed using OT room, and we are practising sharing the equipment with our friends and waiting for our turn…we will continue to do lots of work around this in the coming months!
In Maths, we have been learning about money. This week we focused on recognising the coins and matching them into groups, before learning to count the money and make addition sums to add coins together. In free play, we have been pretending to be shoppers and shopkeepers, so we are all ready now the shops are open again!

D’vash class have had a brilliant week!
We welcomed a new friend into D’vash class and all of the children have worked hard to be friendly and help Avi learn the different routines we have at school. D’vash class feels very busy with all eight children and it is lovely to see all of the friendships continuing to develop as everyone improves their social skills.
The ducklings were a huge hit in D’vash class. The children showed their caring skills by being calm and quiet when visiting the ducklings, and the ducklings first swim was a highlight of the week. We learnt some facts about ducks, including their body parts and life cycle.
In Math we have been focusing on making tally charts and counting in twos, fives and tens. We reviewed representing numbers in different ways, using counters, pictures and stickers.
In Literacy we have continued searching for Abe and Alba from the Adventure story and worked on writing labels and sentences for our own story.
Amazing work as always D’vash class!

In Math we have continued learning all about time and practiced telling the time on clocks. Everyone worked so hard on Tuesday for our Purim enrichment day and we had a great time cooking hamantaschen and making Purim crafts.
