D’vash Class have settled back into school so well and are all very happy to be back together again.
This term we are focusing on a farm theme. In art we created our own animal faces and worked together to mix paint colours to make pink and light yellow, for pigs and chicks respectively. We
have been singing lots of farm songs, with âThe Farmyard Jamboreeâ being the current class favourite â it has also helped us to practice our counting skills and learn more about the life cycle. With the weather warming up, we have had lots of opportunities to have our lessons outside and explore the forest. The whole class has also enjoyed using OT room, and we are practising sharing the equipment with our friends and waiting for our turnâŠwe will continue to do lots of work around this in the coming months!
In Maths, we have been learning about money. This week we focused on recognising the coins and matching them into groups, before learning to count the money and make addition sums to add coins together. In free play, we have been pretending to be shoppers and shopkeepers, so we are all ready now the shops are open again!
The pupils have been very welcoming to their new teacher, and they are already getting used to the changes in class which is a credit to their maturity and resilience.
As the Spring Term draws to a close, we have all been very busy in Tamar class not least with the new ducklings that have recently hatched. Every pupil in class has shown genuine curiosity and care in handling them.
Over the past few weeks our Literacy project has been the Abe and Alba book as well as some specific work on making predictions on how a story will end. I have really enjoyed seeing the class use their imagination whilst developing vocabulary to create some wonderful pieces of fiction.
We are currently studying forces in Science and we produced our own parachutes to test Galileo’s theories about Gravity. They are really enjoying the practical aspects of science and testing different theories through experimentation and observation.
Next term will be our final one in the current site and we are beginning to think about the transition to the new school…. everyone in the class has expressed excitement at this next chapter!
It has been an exciting two weeks in Chitah.
In Literacy, we have continued âThe Adventure of Abe and Albaâ where the children have learnt about âTiny Peopleâ. We have explored the school looking for clues that they have left and produced creative writing all about their adventure.
In Math, some of the children have continued to learn all about measurement including the different methods of measuring, comparing and converting measurements. Whilst others have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes, the names of the shapes, how many sides and vertices.
We also had World Book Day ,the children enjoyed a great day of dress up and activities.
Well done Chitah, keep it up!

We welcomed our new Ducklings into Gesher. All of the Gefen children seemed to love having the ducks at school! They were excited to watch them hatch, swim and grow nice and fluffy!
In Literacy, we have been learning and reading of Abe and Alba’s Adventures, two tiny but very cheeky characters that have stolen the words from our books.
This interactive way of learning has really engaged the children, who have enjoyed following this adventure whilst developing key literacy skills.
Dâvash class have had a brilliant week!
We welcomed a new friend into Dâvash class and all of the children have worked hard to be friendly and help Avi learn the different routines we have at school. Dâvash class feels very busy with all eight children and it is lovely to see all of the friendships continuing to develop as everyone improves their social skills.
The ducklings were a huge hit in Dâvash class. The children showed their caring skills by being calm and quiet when visiting the ducklings, and the ducklings first swim was a highlight of the week. We learnt some facts about ducks, including their body parts and life cycle.
In Math we have been focusing on making tally charts and counting in twos, fives and tens. We reviewed representing numbers in different ways, using counters, pictures and stickers.
In Literacy we have continued searching for Abe and Alba from the Adventure story and worked on writing labels and sentences for our own story.
Amazing work as always Dâvash class!
Welcome back to the Spring Term 2 to everyone in D’vash and Gesher!
We have had an amazing week back, with lots of enthusiasm for learning about and celebrating Purim. In Literacy we read a story called The Purim Superhero and talked about what costumes we could wear, then coloured and wrote about a costume picture. In Math we have continued learning all about time and practiced telling the time on clocks. Everyone worked so hard on Tuesday for our Purim enrichment day and we had a great time cooking hamantaschen and making Purim crafts.
