These last few weeks we have recapped our Farm Topic.
We have looked at the story of ‘Bumble’s Farm’ and identified rhyming words and sequenced the story.
We have also looked at perfecting the art of using full stops and capital letters by being punctuation ninjas!
In Maths we have finished off our topic of Money and have looked at different coins and have re-capped our numbers to 20.
We have also had lots of fun exploring farm animals and have been investigating animals and their young!
We have had some very special birthday celebrations, we all enjoyed taking part in a Football Party and then had some lovely time in the forest.
Well done team!
Dâvash have had a great couple of weeks, with lots of fun activities going on.
We have been working hard in lessons, with all the children trying their best to join in with their friends and take turns when speaking.
We have also been practicing congratulating each other when we get a Middah slip. Last week we all tried our best to be independent for our Middah.
In Maths we have been learning all about money! Everyone is brilliant at recognising the coins and we have also used coins to solve addition and subtraction sums.
In Literacy we have been reading Mrs Wishy-Washyâs Farm, which has become a favourite class story. The children have been using a story map to re-tell the story for their friends and we had a go at re-writing the Story to make our own Dâvash Wishy-Washy story.
Welcome to the Summer Term!
The flower seeds planted on the first day back are already starting to sprout in the hope that once they bloom, they will attract a variety of insects. In addition to this we are eagerly awaiting the safe delivery of caterpillars to put in the butterfly garden.
We are reading “Holes” by Louis Sacher and everyone is enjoying the story which explores a number of themes related to other subjects including PHSE, History and Geography. Some pupils have already taken it upon themselves to watch the movie based on the novel, and are interested to see how the differences between the two forms of media.
The Class are also working well in Maths as we explore Geometry and measuring angles.
Good work Tamar!
It has been a great week back in Chitah class!
Our topic this term is living things where we will be learning all about the life cycle and the many vast and wonderful creatures in this world.
To help us do this, we have introduced David Attenborough and his adventures discovering and learning all about animals on Planet Earth.
This topic will be cross-curricula this term, and will be used to support in our other lessons to help make the learning impactful, cohesive, and relevant.
We had a fantastic Thursday this week celebrating Israel’s birthday where we went on a virtual tour of Israel using VR goggles and augmented reality technology. We also cooked Israeli food, and went for our very first trip as a class when we went on a mile walk outside of the school to celebrate Israelâs Independence Day. Hopefully we will be able to do more excursions like this in the coming months as the covid restrictions begin to relax, as it was a great opportunity to practice a range of skills within a different context.
Well done Chitah class for a fantastic first full week back.
Welcome to the Summer Term!
It is so exciting that we are in our final term at The Hope Centre before our move to the new site in SeptemberâŚRimon class are certainly ready for some more space to learn and play!
We have been busy learning all about minibeasts, which is our topic for this term. We have mapped out possible places where minibeasts might live in our local areas, and have named and identified the some of their more common microhabitats.
In Literacy, we have been exploring rhyming and different types of poetry. Some groups have worked on identifying rhyming pairs in âThe Snail and the Whaleâ, while others have written their own acrostic poems on minibeasts. I am pleased to share that we have some very unique and creative poets in our midst.
In Maths, we are completing our modules on Fractions and Repeated Addition. Consolidation and repetition continues to be of high importance for our children in developing their academic skillsets, and it is really pleasing to see that they have all put in a lot of effort already this term.
Good work Rimon!
What a wonderful start back to the term we have had!
We have started exploring our new topic of farm animals. We have explored fun songs and have had some fantastic art lessons where wedecorated our favourite farm animals for our new classroom display. We have been looking at animals and the differences between younger animals and older animals, and what the correct names for them are.
In Maths we have started looking at money and different coins! Some of us have been exploring adding money together whilst others have been identifying lots of different coins. We have also started looking at problem solving with money by creating a shop and adding and subtracting different amounts.
In Literacy we have been learning how to find facts and how to research safely on the iPad. We have collected facts about our favourite farmyard animals and have made sure we use safe websites.
Finally, we have had some wonderful time in the forest on Friday afternoon; we explored in the sunshine and had fun looking at all of the wonderful flowers that grew over our two weeks off.
What a super start back to the term!
D’vash Class have settled back into school so well and are all very happy to be back together again.
This term we are focusing on a farm theme. In art we created our own animal faces and worked together to mix paint colours to make pink and light yellow, for pigs and chicks respectively. We
have been singing lots of farm songs, with âThe Farmyard Jamboreeâ being the current class favourite â it has also helped us to practice our counting skills and learn more about the life cycle. With the weather warming up, we have had lots of opportunities to have our lessons outside and explore the forest. The whole class has also enjoyed using OT room, and we are practising sharing the equipment with our friends and waiting for our turnâŚwe will continue to do lots of work around this in the coming months!
In Maths, we have been learning about money. This week we focused on recognising the coins and matching them into groups, before learning to count the money and make addition sums to add coins together. In free play, we have been pretending to be shoppers and shopkeepers, so we are all ready now the shops are open again!
To wrap up this week and bring in Shabbat, the students at Gesher participated in a Challah Bake on Thursday. They measured, mixed, prepped, braided and baked their own challahs, which they used to celebrate Oneg Shabbat on Friday morning. It was a wonderful day, and the students had a fantastic time making their own individual challot for shabbat!
