TAMAR 02 JULY 2021

2nd July 2021realsmart admin

Tamar Class had another great week, with the highlight definitely being sports days. The class took part in all the staples of a good sports day, including the egg & spoon race and a relay. There was a lot of great effort put in by everyone and some definite excitement for the upcoming Olympics because of it.

Back in the classroom, our Science lesson this week got rather messy with an experiment which aimed to re-create the human digestive system using tights, bread, orange juice and banana. It is not something I recommend you trying at home!

This week also saw the class getting involved the preparations for the move to the new site, by painting personalised tiles which will be displayed in our new school building in September.

RIMON 02 JULY 2021

2nd July 2021realsmart admin

This past two weeks in Rimon class, we have been trying out a new Literacy skillset. We have been looking at Talk for Writing, which is a technique where pictures are used to retell the story.

Next, we made our own story based on the well-known We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Our stories include dinosaurs, pokemons, chocolate, mummies, all running into problems! Amazing effort Rimon class.

In Maths, we have been looking at estimation, weight and temperature.

We have still had some time for fun though! We worked so hard for our Sports Day, cheering for our friends and participating in all the races. Great work! Bring on Gesher’s Got Talent and our Macchane week.

CHITAH 02 JULY 2021

2nd July 2021realsmart admin

We have had a really exciting two weeks.

We are consolidated our theme of ‘Life Cycle’ by watching the life cycle of the butterfly right in front of our eyes. We each had a chance to hold the butterflies, giving them words of encouragement to fly into the big wide world. Thank you so much for being so kind and gentle with them.

In Topic, our theme is ‘Humans’, in which we have been looking at the human skeleton and the functions of our bones. We had so much fun creating a human skeleton using paper and split pins. We area also going to be exploring the human organs, veins and mussels.

In Maths, we have been looking at ‘Time’, the children are becoming more confident in telling the time! So far, we have focused on o clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past and are now focusing on the 5 minutes.

In Literacy, we started looking at and understanding synonyms and antonyms. We have spent the week looking at how they can be used correctly and effectively.

GEFEN 02 JULY 2021

2nd July 2021realsmart admin

We’ve had a very busy two weeks in Gefen class.

We enjoyed our amazing mini Sports Day, where the children competed together as a team in four activities: egg & spoon race, bean-bag toss, hurdles and long-jump. Everyone had such a fun morning and were great sportsmen and women!

We also enjoyed a fantastic drumming experience from an amazing volunteer who performed a piece of music on his drums, and all the children got to have a turn on the drum set. In Literacy we have continued exploring our topic ‘Transport’ and have been looking at different transport books. The children have started ‘Talk for Writing’ where the children have began creating their own story based on a character from a storybook.

In Maths we have finished our units of fractions and quarters. The children have looked at halves and quarters of shapes and amounts.

DVASH 02 JULY 2021

D’vash class have had another busy and exciting week! All of the children are working so hard and it has been lovely to reflect on the amazing progress they have made this term, as I prepare the end of year reports. I have been so impressed this week by the children’s caring actions towards each other, they have such a strong bond as a class.

This week we have been reviewing all of our favourite stories as a class, with the children having opportunities to read or retell their favourite story to the class.

In Maths we have been working on our addition skills and using all the number knowledge we have to solve addition problems.

We also had a brilliant Graduation event with parents on Friday morning, it was such a special time to celebrate together and lovely for the children to share their classroom and school with parents.

Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all at our new school site in September!

TAMAR 18 JUNE 2021

18th June 2021realsmart admin

Tamar enjoyed a really positive visit to the new school site and all the pupils are clearly looking forward to going there in September. Everyone was happy to see the abundance of space both in the school building and
the playground area.
Our topic across the curriculum this term is “Humans” and some very good work has been produced in several lessons. Last week we studied human anatomy learning about the function of numerous internal organs. Part of this topic links with RSE and the class have so far, shown maturity and the ability to talk openly about sensitive matters relating to the changes they are to expect as they grow older. I am very pleased with how all the class have engaged with this in their own way according to their own needs.
In Maths we have been recapping on previous work to consolidate learning around using measures and converting units from metric to imperial. In English we continue to work on comprehension using different kinds of text, fictional and non-fiction, developing our understanding of how different information is conveyed via different mediums. We shall also be looking at human rights and how charities such as UNICEF promote and help people sustain these rights across the globe. We have also welcomed Mr Sam back this week.

CHITAH 18 JUNE 2021

18th June 2021realsmart admin

We have had a fantastic first 2 weeks of Summer 2 term.
We are consolidating our theme of ‘Life Cycle’ by watching the life cycle of the butterfly right in front of our eyes. Last week, five caterpillars arrived that have now formed into chrysalis, we are eagerly awaiting for them to transform into butterflies.
In the past two weeks we have been looking at the life of Nelson Mandela in his long walk to freedom. The children have been really engaged and interested in learning all about his struggles, triumphs and the legacy that he has left behind. We have linked this to Human Rights and how it is so important to advocate for fairness and equality. Each child came up with an idea and advocated for a cause that they believe in. It was followed by a debate where we could all share our opinions in a safe and educational manner.
In Maths, we have been looking at ‘Time’, the children are becoming more confident in telling the time! So far, we have focused on O clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past.
Well done Chitah class for such an awesome start to the term!

In the last two weeks in Rimon class we have been looking at the features of comic books in literacy. We began by studying onomatopoeias and looking at the kinds of words in comic books.
In Maths we have been studying time, focusing specifically on half past and quarter past. We have also been studying money and improving our recognition of coins and their values.
In other very exciting news, we had an opportunity to go and have a look our new school last Thursday. We all loved it and are so excited for next year!

We’ve had a wonderful two weeks in Gefen class by making the most of the sunshine and making sure we have been spending plenty of time outside. We have been practising for our sports day during our PE sessions on
Friday and are now professional long jumpers.
In Literacy we have been looking at our topic ‘Transport’ and have been creating fact files about buses and looking at different types of transport.
In Maths we have been exploring fractions and how we can find halves in shapes and numbers. We’re very excited to be visiting our new school site on Friday! I’ll be sending lots of pictures your way so you can feel a part of our first trip there.

DVASH 18 JUNE 2021

18th June 2021realsmart admin

D’vash class have had a brilliant week! We have been enjoying the sunny weather and talking a lot together about how to keep ourselves safe in the sun; wearing sunscreen, drinking water and keeping our hats on.
We have started our new topic ‘Transport’ and we have learnt the ‘We all go travelling by’ song. We had fun making all of the different transport sounds and each chose a transport picture to write about. In art we created our own cars, by painting toilet paper rolls and sticking them together.
D’vash class also had a very exciting trip in the Gesher school van to visit our new school. The children were all so happy to go out on a trip together and it was amazing to see how much they loved our new playgrounds and visiting all the new rooms. We are all looking forward to September!
